Phase II
(This post originally appeared in full on my LinkedIn)
Yesterday, I wrote the last paragraph of the first draft of Lay Me Down Softly, my YA horror about a father/daughter camping trip to a remote campsite.
I would love to jump up and down screaming “it’s done! It’s done!” but this is the second “real” book I’ve written, and the fourth I’ve written overall; I know this slog is far from over.
STILL, I don’t want to make it sound like I’m not 100% thrilled to be done with this phase and moving on to next steps. I am so ready to start layering on the details that will give Iona’s experience the nuance and emotion it deserves.
All this to say, I’m farther along than I’ve ever been, and that’s worth celebrating.
